Introduction to Our Tertiary Programmes
At The Photo School, we pride ourselves on our practical and holistic approach to photographic learning. Students who enrol in our tertiary programmes quickly become part of our photoschool ‘family’, and many of our graduates continue to visit us and occasionally return to show work and speak to current classes.
The Photo School delivers two Whitireia NZ certificate qualifications. The Certificate in Practical Photography begins at the beginning, assuming that students have only limited knowledge of the photographic processes, if any at all. Complete camera control, image design, and creativity sit alongside professional business practise.
The Certificate in Advanced Photography pushes students further, introducing them to the studio, to antique photographic processes, to the digital world, and to a more illustrative approach to image-making.
Graduates of those certificates will from February 2012 be able to enter Whitireia's Bachelor in Applied Arts (Visual Art and Design) and specialise in photography, taking them to a new level - that of practitioner, professional artist.

Boutique photographic education delivered on the Kapiti Coast Wellington New Zealand. Certificate programmes in practical and advanced photography. The Photo School encourages students to take photos for their industry during their studies to develop artistically and conceptually. Seminars are delivered at secondary schools, colleges and a diploma course is in development at tertiary level, for further study. NZQA unit standards assessment is used.
